During the months of November, December & January, ISSUP’s National Chapters came together virtually to discuss priorities, research, collaboration opportunities and our forthcoming conference and workshop next May in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

This week the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) has released the European Prevention Curriculum - a handbook designed for decision, opinion and policy makers in science-based prevention of substance use. The aim of the EUPCinitiative is to implement a standardised prevention training curriculum in Europe and improve the overall effectiveness of prevention.

Research from the University of Exeter has highlighted how childhood trauma can make individuals more sensitive to the pleasurable and motivational effects of opioids and less sensitive to the negative consequence of the drugs.
