OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
Supporting alcohol control among Member States.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Under the overall supervision and guidance of Coordinator, Department of Healthier Populations and Noncommunicable Diseases (HPN) and the direct supervision of Regional Advisor- MHS, the incumbent is expected to:
- Analyze the epidemiological aspects of alcohol use in SEAR Member States preparation of report that include age and sex disaggregated data on prevalence of use and trends, per-capital consumption and alcohol related harm.
- Support preparing alcohol country context reports for 11 Member States.
- Support to collecting data on alcohol taxation in Member States.
- Support data collection for updating the SEAR publication “Alcohol Policy in the WHO South-East Asia Region: A Report”, in 2018.
- Document successful community level alcohol control interventions in countries of the Region.
- Support implementation of SAFER project in Nepal.
- Any other technical work on mental health and substance abuse required by the MHS Unit.
- Undertake any other activities as required.
