JOB DESCRIPTION
The Substance Use Disorder Specialist will provide mental health counselling, case management, and other services for clients and provide leadership, guidance, and training for other staff in substance use disorder treatment. The Substance Use Disorder Specialist can work in many Interim, Inc. programs, such as supported housing, homeless services, crisis residential and substance use residential and treatment services.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required: Bachelor’s degree with at least one year of full-time (two years preferred) experience in mental health and substance use treatment or CADAC II or equivalent Alcohol and drug certification with three years of full-time experience. Good written and oral English communication skills, word processing and data entry/retrieval skills preferred; ability/willingness to learn computer skills required, ability to work as a member of a team, to accept supervision, to maintain appropriate boundaries while working in close interpersonal relationships. Ability to learn and apply principles of social rehabilitation, Client Centred and trauma informed services. Ability to be organised, responsible, flexible, empathic and able to relate effectively with clients, other staff, professionals and members of the community. Knowledge of community resources desirable.
Preferred: Two years experience in mental health and substance use treatment.
Valid California driver's license; auto in safe operating condition; auto liability insurance; good driving record; criminal record clearance; proof of authorisation to work in the United States as required by Immigration and Reform Act of 1986. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
