The Unit wishes to recruit a Stop Smoking Practitioner to provide the day-to-day specialist tobacco cessation support to the residents of Waltham Forest.
The post holders will join a team of comprising Researchers, Stop Smoking Advisors, Clinicians and support staff.
Key duties of the role include:
- To provide intensive support for smokers and tobacco users using Pharmacotherapies and behavioural support to targeted segments of the population (as stated in the service specification) who have complex needs i.e. COPD, MH/SMI and pregnancy.
- Maintaining motivation of clients during times of emotional distress. Occasional exposure to distressing/highly distressing circumstances for example: Clients – diagnosis of chronic or terminal illness/disease, clients suffering from mental health problems, clients or clients’ families’ addiction to other drugs/substances.
- Communicate complex and sensitive information to clients in a culturally sensitive manner. To provide a culturally sensitive approach to cessation by sensitivity towards the protected characteristics in accordance with Equalities and Diversity Policies.
- Maintaining resources for outreach sessions, workshops, presentations and community events in the form of a display board, leaflets posters, CO monitor, NRT samples and paperwork.
