Job Summary:
The School of Social Work, in the College of Professional Programs at Eastern Washington University, invites applications for a Tenure-track Assistant Professor to support the Addiction Studies program to begin mid-September 2022.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Teaching core courses in the undergraduate Addiction Studies program, as well as some graduate teaching in the Master's programs, some student advising, research and service, maintaining an active research and scholarship agenda, and engaging in service to the school, college, university, and community. Normal teaching load includes 36 quarter credits per academic year with a nine-month appointment. Supplemental summer appointments in teaching may also be available.
Required Qualifications:
• Ph.D. or Doctorate in Addiction, Psychology, Social Work or a closely related discipline (must be conferred by the start of employment);
• A minimum of one-year direct addiction, social work, marriage and family, or mental health practice experience.
• Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching;
• Interest and/or experience in online learning;
• Competent with and experienced using, database, email, and other forms of instruction technology;
• Demonstrated ability to effectively engage in scholarship;
• A high degree of interest in human and cultural diversity, social justice and experiential and community- based education. Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to diverse needs, including universal accessibility, of our students, faculty, staff, and the public.
• Certified as a Substance Use Disorder Professional, begin the process of getting certified, or willing to apply to the Department of Health as a Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee with the intent of completing the requirements and becoming a Substance Use Disorder Professional in the time frame required by the state.
