Full Job Description
SA Therapist:
A substance abuse counselor is a support system for people with drug and alcohol problems, eating disorders and other behavioral issues. They teach individuals how to modify their behavior with the intention of full recovery. Because clients are susceptible to relapses, many substance abuse counselors work with clients on an on-going basis. This position includes weekends both Saturday and Sunday.
Other duties include:
- Meeting with clients to evaluate their health and substance problem
- Identifying issues and create goals and treatment plans
- Teaching clients coping mechanisms
- Helping clients find jobs or reestablish their career
- Evaluate the individual and family systems as well as assess client’s functioning within work, family and routines of daily living and identifies areas needing continued support, resources and treatment in order to assist clients
- Leading group therapy sessions
- Providing updates and progress reports to courts
- Referring clients to support groups
- Setting up aftercare plans
- Maintain case records to reflect course of treatment and provide required documentation. Provide follow-up and aftercare planning services as needed. Expeditiously discharges inactive clients.
- Speaking with family members and provide guidance and support
Weekly Hours Schedule:
- Work hours vary as meetings and events may take place early in the morning or in the evening hours.
- There may be weekend hours associated with special events or other activities related to the position
QUALIFICATIONS :
Require a B.A/B.S, BSW, or related degree in social work, psychology, human services or related field.
We prefer experience of a year or more. The more the merrier of course
Valid driver’s license with a clear driving record.
Successfully pass criminal background check and drug screen
Rate of Pay:
Pay is negotiable depending on degree, years of experience. etc.
