Avances y desafíos de la reforma de salud mental: implementación de nuevas políticas para la atención de personas que consumen sustancias psicoactivas en el contexto de la Covid-19 en el Perú - Dr Yuri Cutipé Cárdenas
The COVID-19 pandemic has had unprecedented global effects and has been affecting mental health and drug use patterns in Peru. These emergency health circumstances are occurring while the local mental health reform is being implemented. This reform allows for the development of new specialized mental health services at the national level, with a multidisciplinary, multisectoral and community-based approach.
With the support of international cooperation, state response capacity is being strengthened through training programs based on gender-sensitive evidence that improve the knowledge and competencies of mental health professionals who treat addictions and develop sustained interventions with families and the community.
Peru implements large-scale structured actions through the State Budget Program for Mental Health Control and Prevention and the Budget Program for Drug Use Prevention and Treatment. The presentation will analyse their execution and results. It will also recommend new mechanisms for multisectoral articulation and the generation of new drug demand reduction policies in the current context.
