University of Salford Conference on Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders
The UK has one of the highest estimated rates of Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) in the world, but these conditions are commonly misunderstood, under-recognised and under-diagnosed.
This one-day conference at the University of Salford’s Media City campus will provide delegates with an introduction and understanding of the issues and complexities in the topic of foetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD). This will be beneficial to a range of academics and practitioners, especially those involved in health, social work and education. It will also be useful for families affected by FASD.
Delegates will hear from internationally renowned speakers on the history of FASD, diagnosis, issues around drinking in pregnancy, the presentation of FASD, the life experience of FASD or caring for a young person with FASD, prevalence, comorbidity with trauma or attachment issues, comorbidity with other disorders, issues around social care, national healthcare guidelines, and behaviour management of children with FASD.
The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health has approved this activity for Continuing Professional Development in accordance with the current RCPCH CPD Guidelines.
